In this installment, there are new upgrade trees and towers. The classic single-fire, spread shot, and elemental selections are still available. However, the upgrades make significant changes to how they work. Most of the fun you’ll have involves tweaking these to create unique defensive setups.
The visuals in this title are impressive. Units have unique decorations when you upgrade them and the animations are smooth. It’s still a 2D top-down title, though, so it has some limitations. The colors still pop and every explosion, ice blast, aura, and character death, is eye candy.
This iteration includes hero units. You don’t have to manage these so much. They upgrade automatically, and you can only have one at a time. They’re important because of their unique attacks and abilities. You can adjust them to fit your tower strategy.
